NewsMusic body joins YouTube battleA major US music industry body has joined other businesses in seeking to sue video-sharing website YouTube. The National Musical Publishers Association says some songwriters are not being properly compensated when their music appears on site. However YouTube says it stays within the law by immediately taking down clips found to be in breach of copyright. The legal action has been combined with those of several other companies including Viacom and Nickelodeon. Chief executive of the National Musical Publishers Association (NMPA) David Israelite said the body was: "very concerned about YouTube's approach to copyright". He told BBC News that the body was joining the case, "to protect the interests of music publishers and songwriters, whose creative works are being used without permission or compensation by YouTube". The Kooks wrap up US tour with sold-out shows The Kooks will wrap up their US tour tonight with a show at Boston's Paradise Rock Club. The band performed the second of two sold out shows at New York's Fillmore on Friday (May 11) in front of Brit-packed audience. Hotly-tipped openers Illinois amply warmed-up the crowd, performing a string of tracks from their debut EP 'What The Hell Do I Know?' including 'Headphones' and 'Bad Day' before making way for the headliners. Taking to the stage at around 10pm, The Kooks opened with mini-track 'Seaside' and tore through hit after hit from 'Inside In/Inside Out' such as 'She Moves In Her Own Way' and 'See The World'. Watched by an audience that included We Are Scientists bassist Chris Cain and Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows, the band wrapped up their set with 'Sofa Song'. They played: 'Seaside' 'See The World' 'Eddie's Gun' 'Matchbox' 'Ooh La' 'Come On Down' 'Time Awaits' 'She Moves In Her Own Way' 'Oil' 'Sway' 'Sabateur' 'Na?ve' 'Always Where I Need To Be' 'You Don't Love Me' 'Disappear' 'Make Love' 'Sofa Song' |
